Summary: | The Bona Field located in the Bintuni Basin, Papua has proven hydrocarbon, with the main product as a gas and condensate from Ainim and Roabiba Formation with the main production reservoir in the Roabiba Formation. Further development scenario is needed in this area, due to the proven hydrocarbon from eleven explorations and development wells. The study in geochemical and geological modelling can give a better result to answer the potential of compartmentalization and the distribution of residual gas in the Bona Field that could give a contribution for the future development scenario in this field.
Two source rocks was determined as a result of geochemical study in the Bona Field, they are Ainim and Roabiba Formation intervals. Compartmentalization in the northwest of the Bona Field also founded based on the different of gas composition and the pressure data from several wells that were analyzed. Fault seal analysis and seismic data also helped to brings the conclusion of compartmentalization in the Bona Field is exist not because the reactivation of the faults. The fact is happen due to after hydrocarbon migration, the faults that seen in the seismic data are don’t have reactivation that make the Bona Field compartmentalized. The compartmentalization is happening due to the impact of reservoir properties that relatively getting worst in the northwest area of the Bona Field (Bona-1 and Bona-3 wells) compared to others wells.
The Bona Field that located in the Bintuni Basin is formed as a foreland basin with the fast rapid sedimentation in the eastern part of this field. This condition causing the main kitchen was formed in the eastern part of the field. The tilting process happen around 3,5 million year ago that caused northwest area of the Bona Field exposed and eroded. This erosion happens during hydrocarbon migration, so the hydrocarbon that was trapped has re-migration to other place due to the changing of the trap geometry, and this will created the residual hydrocarbon (gas) in the previous area.

In the geological modelling, the prediction of sedimentation erosion in the Bona Field is known. This prediction can help to create a model for the process of hydrocarbon migration and can predict the lateral distribution of residual gas in the Bona Field. The residual gas will act as an alternative resource that can produce for the future development in the Bona Field. |
