Therefore it is necessary to find abundant availability and environmentally friendly energy source in nature. Wind is one of the alternative energy sources that meet these criteria. To be used properly, it takes necessary study to learn about the potential of wind energy in areas that have the potential. Not every region in Indonesia has wind energy potency. South Sulawesi is one that has wind energy potency. In this study requires wind data on level 10 m above the ground from 3 stations in South Sulawesi. To calculate wind speed on level 25 m and 50 m using wind profile power law. Wind speed in Stasiun Hasannudin is 2.5 m/s to 3.1 m/s. Stasiun Masamba has wind speed from 1.7 m/s to 2.3 m/s, and stasiun Majene wind speed is 3.6 to 4.5 m/s. The effective wind power in stasiun Hasannudin achieved by using HAWT (Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine) turbine technology with diameter 5 m. on level 50 m above the ground it can produce energy roughly 78 kWday/year.Stasiun Masamba has small potency of wind energy due to low wind speed, yet still can be used with Honeywell turbine. In a year it can produce energy about 29 kWday/year on level 50 m. Area with the most wind energy potency is stasiun Majene. Its effective energy can be produced using HAWT turbine with diameter 5 m on level 10 m, and diameter of 15 m on level 25 m and 50 m. The wind can produce energy nearly 2408 kWday/year text |
