The Primary data were taken from the analysis results of Ayah area, Kabupaten Kebumen, Central Java Province and Sungai Rumbia area, Kabupaten Muara Bungo, Jambi Province while the analysis results from Kabupaten Sintang and Kabupaten Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan Province and Talawi Area, Kota Sawahlunto, West Sumatera were employed as the secondary data. The pristane/phytane (Pr/Ph) ratios for Ayah-Jateng, S. Rumbia-Jambi, Nangadangkan-Kalbar, and Talawi-Sumbar areas are 0.13, 3.04, 2.07 - 2.64, and

1.79 - 4.12. Existing domination C29 versus C28 and C27 for the Ayah-Jateng, S. Rumbia-Jambi, Nangadangkan-Kalbar, and Talawi-Sumbar areas indicated oil shale were formed in lacustrin, terrestrial, terrestrial, and aquatik environment. The total organic carbon (TOC) contents of oil shale in the Ayah-Jateng, S. Rumbia-Jambi, Nangadangkan-Kalbar, and Talawi-Sumbar areas are 17.00, 36.03, 2.12 - 3.49, dan 3.89 - 4.79 %. All samples display high Hydrogen Index (HI) values and low Oxygen Index (OI) values. Oil shale Ayah-Jateng contains

Type II OM with oil and gas prone quality, S. Rumbia-Jambi contains type I OM with oil prone quality, Nangadangkan-Kalbar contains mixed Type II and Type III

OM as oil and gas quality; and Talawi-Sumbar contains Type II OM with oil prone quality. Tmaks values for Ayah-Jateng, S. Rumbia-Jambi, Nangadangkan-Kalbar, and

Talawi-Sumbar areas are 419oc, 413oC, 435 - 444 oC, and 437 - 443 oC. Based on vitrinite reflectance values and biomarker maturity parameters for Ayah-Jateng and S. Rumbia-Jambi samples measured as immature, Nangadangkan-Kalbar early mature-mature, and Talawi-Sumbar samples measured as early mature. text
