Summary: | Evaporative-Cooled Condenser (ECC) for binary geothermal power plant has been studied in this thesis. Binary goethermal power plant that has been studied is a pocket binary plant 60 kW. This pocket power plant will be installed at Wayang Windu geothermal field. This pocket power plant will use 2.7 kg/s brine flowrate with minimum temperature 145oC. In fact, there is 35 kg/s of brine flowrate in Wayang Windu geothermal field which temperature is about 180oC. So this brine condition is enough for suplying heat to the pocket binary power plant.

Butane is used as working fluid for the pocket binary power plant with the turbine inlet pressure is 13.8 bar (evaporating temperature 95oC) and condensing pressure

is 3.2 bar (condensing temperatur 45oC). The result of the study shows that evaporative-cooled condenser is better than aircooled condenser tha already used. Surface heat transfer area needed for evaporative condenser is less than surface heat transfer area needed for air condenser. Surface heat transfer area needed for evaporative-cooled is 30 m2 while surface heat transfer area needed for air-cooled is 58 m2. Power consumption needed for ECC is less than air-cooled condenser. ECC will need 2.9 kW for fan and pump while air-cooled condenser will need 25.6 kW. Evaporativecooled condenser is increasing the system efficiency more than 6%. |
