Description
Summary:Reservoir simulation is a common practice in EOR through fluid injection into reservoir. Reservoir simulation acts as a tool to monitor the movement and flow of reservoir fluid as well as injection fluid. Fluid replacement from water to oil, in a two-phase reservoir system, is inevitable as water will push oil to producing wells. These two substances have different density, thus it will allow a change in reservoir fluid density (Δρ) and gravity response (Δg).

To allow countless and easy model making and parameter setting that commercial program hardly offer, a reservoir fluid flow simulation program was made by using MATLAB programming language with IMPES technique as general reference in the program developing process.

One dimensional synthetic model was developed to test the program and it gave an RMS error of 32,914510%−×. Then, the program is applied to four 609,6 m x 609,6 m 2D models which differ in initial reservoir pressure and reservoir thickness.. A change of 0 – 0,039 gr/cc of reservoir bulk density gave 1,05 μGal and 0,69 μGal in maximum gravity response difference for 700 m and 1200 m of depth respectively. With a difference of 150 m in thickness, a gravity response difference of 1 μGal and 0,36 μGal for 700 m and 1200 m of depth respectively was observed. Then, with a difference of 500 m in depth, a maximum gravity response difference of 1,85 μGal was observed. Reservoir simulation can finally be developed as preliminary and complementing study to gravity survey to give general view about the change of gravity response in EOR activity.
