Summary: | East Bandung is a congested residential and industrial areas. Groundwater conditions in the region is not fit for consumption because it contains iron (Fe) are too high. In addition to water quality problems, East Bandung had flooding problems in the area and surrounding Gedebage. This problem is caused by changes in land use, so that reduced catchment areas. The continued development of the East Bandung area as industrial and residential area, the catchment area will decrease the impact on the increasing surface runoff in the region. The purpose of this study is to simulate rainwater harvesting to determine its effectiveness in an effort to reduce surface runoff in this area. By using a hydrological model HEC-HMS, the calculation to determine the total runoff can be reduced by applying the method of rainwater harvesting reservoir. Cumulative Distribution Function method used to create a scenario of extreme wet conditions in HEC-HMS simulation. HEC-HMS simulations using three scenarios of extreme wet conditions and capacities of different container. Based on the calculations in this study, the reservoir can reduce runoff by 26% in 2010. The conclusion of this study is the rainwater harvesting method has high potential in an effort to reduce surface runoff in the East Bandung area. |
