In general, it aims to modify surface of material. <br /> <br /> In this research, synthesis white carbon black can be obtained from sodium silicate using sol gel method. White carbon black is dissolved oxides of silica by its precursor solution. Nano particles of this silica is sphere and will be modified into nanorod. This modification is using starch as organic template. Dip coating will be used as the method of this coating and before that this plate will be dipped into chitosan. Chitosan will act as coupling agent. Variation of the calcination process is 200oC , 250oC , dan 300oC for 2 hours. <br /> <br /> The result of SEM showed that silica layer was formed on the surface with solid and non-porous interface. The thicknes of this silica layer is around 4 μm. Higher the calcination temperature increase the rigidity of the layer. The result of EDS showed that the layer which is formed on the silver's surface is silica and there is other substances beside silver. This phenomenon may happened because the silver that is used was a mixture of silver, aluminium, and copper. text |
