Summary: | Studies on metamorphic rocks of Latimojong Mountain Complex indicate that Latimojong Formation are composed by very low to medium grade metamorphic rocks derived from alternating of silisiclastic, carcareous and volcanic rocks of shallow fore arc twin, intruded by basaltic - acidic composition of high K calc alkaline, calc alkaline and tholeiite rocks. Westward imbrication controlled most of its tectonic structure. Imbrication strvktures involve the metamorphic rocks, serpentines, chert and island arc metabasites of accretionary complex.
At least three deformational phases have been distinguisted: initial deformation was accompanied by the development of zeolite, actinolite pumpellyite and initial of amphibolite faacies mineral assemblages along the layers, and folded then. The metabasites are characterized by intensely deformation and under higher PT condition of glaucophanitic greenschist facies. Later deformation give rise to fracturing, accompanied by hydrothermal mineral deposition.
Their rock chemistry suggest that high K calc alkaline, calc alkaline and tholeiite affinities of the active continental margin were accreted with primitive magma products of island arc. The result of present work support the idea of the formation of primitive island arc prior to its collision with Sundaland margin. |
