rainfall. Onset season typically identified using rainfall data but identification of onset season using other weather elements is also very possible as long as the weather elements still relevance and have the same climatological variability of rainfall data. Cloud tops temperature data have relevance and the same climatological variability of rainfall data so it can be used to identify the start of the season. Cloud tops temperature data can be monitored in near realtime using
Geostationary Meteorological Satellites (GMS) so it allows developed an information system based on cloud tops temperature data that can provide information of onset season quickly and accurately. The purpose of this research is to make the definition of onset season based on cloud tops temperature data for the information systems development of onset season in Java. Definition of onset season that made is reference to the definition of onset season criteria used by BMKG. That definition is require an initial threshold value for the identification of onset season. The method used to obtain the threshold value of onset season based on cloud top temperature data is the minimum misfit method. That is modifying the model iteratively to achieve a convergence towards the optimum models. The optimum model is determined by the fit between the observed data
results for the onset of rainy season and the dry season is quite good. The pattern of distribution of onset season is similar to the identification results using rainfall data. Quantitative analysis also showed good results, although there are some different but the difference is only about 0 to 3 10-days period. Information systems of the onset season has been developed based on the definition of onset season based on temperature data of cloud tops are able to provide preliminary information of the rainy and dry season quickly and accurately. The main information is presented in the form of a map of the distribution of the onset season so that the information is easy to understand. |
