The one of coal producer is Muara Enim Formation, South Sumatera Basin. The study was carried out in order to know the coal characteristic, Coal Bed Methane resources, and relation between coal characteristic and Coal Bed Methane resources. <br /> <br /> <br /> The coal samples were collected from core and cutting samples in Seam-2, Seam-3, and Seam-P. The laboratory analysis was carried out in order to get the composition and quality of coal, maceral composition, vitrinite reflectance, gas composition, gas content, porosity, permeability, and coal density. The resources of Coal Bed Methane in study area was conducted after the data analysis. <br /> <br /> <br /> Generally, rank of coal in study area shows varies from lignite to subbituminous, with level of forming methane as biogenic methane. The composition and quality of Seam-2, Seam-3, and Seam-P are not vary with Nitrogen and Sulphur contents (below 1%). The Coal Bed Methane resources in Seam-3 shows the biggest value. The resources of Coal Bed Methane in Seam-3, Seam-2, and Seam-P are 127,317,688 scf, 110,724,048 scf, and 108,.568,312 scf respectively. <br /> <br /> <br /> The composition of vitrinite maceral shows the dominance value, which is varies from 88% to 95%. The mineral presence shows low relative value, which is varies from 0.01% to 16.18%. These result enable that coal in Seam-2, Seam-3, and Seam-P are good producer and reservoir of Coal Bed Methane. text
