Description
Summary:Most all moving object will experience an obstacle called the friction force that depends on the friction coefficient. This final project discusses the impact of air resistance to the movement of the water coming out from a small hole in the stalk of water. The goal is to determine the coefficient of friction per unit of mass between the air and water where the friction force is modeled as f=-kv whit, k is the coefficient of friction and v is speed. We use handycam and movie maker to measure the time and position of the fall of the water coming out from a small hole in the water tank by varying the position of the height of the water hole while the heigt of water in the water tank is fixed. Acceleration of gravity used in the project is obtained through the experiment mathematical pendulum with the results is g = 9.761±0,035 m/s2. Analysis of the results shows that the friction coefficient per unit of mass is k / m = 103.73±0,007/s is nearly equal to the value of the friction coefficient per unit of mass of falling object with k/m = 102.66±0,025/s. As in the theoretical analysis without friction experiments Toricelli, fell the furthest point occurs when the position of a small hole in the water tank is a hole half the water level measured from the bottom, but the shorter fall distance experiments.
