description In this study, we are going to evaluate a set of drilling data to try to find the root cause of drilling vibration that we were experienced. The data were realtime data coming out from the field at one of ConocoPhillips Indonesia's well. The data will

be processed using design software to come up with better and improved design of BHA and procedures. Oil and gas drilling process required a good planning

with a lot of aspects connect to each other, making it a very complicated process. The goal is to drill a well in a most efficient and safety oriented ways based on

government and company's policy. Many things were planned in advance and one of the things that we are taking into great consideration is the planning of a BHA

(Bottom Hole Assembly). BHA along with drill-string is a set of tool that constantly moving (turning). Due to its rotation, moving the BHA will have a risk of a vibration. With the right planning we can avoid BHA to have vibration. BHA was define as a set of down-hole tool used in drilling operation that connected to drill pipe. The idea is to drill the well to a target that we have pointed, and hoping the design BHA will perform efficiently and effectively. BHA could contain as follow; drill bit, bit sub, or at certain application we use mud motor or RSS system, stabilizer, drill collar, heavy weight drill pipe and jar. On directional well

we often used Measurement While Drilling (MWD) tool and Logging While Drilling (LWD) tool. With a combination of the tool above plus the profile of the well including the length of the well, it will have a potential to face difficulties and problems during drilling such as vibration - stick and slips, shock, high pressure, excessive torque, kick, lost circulation, differential sticking and many others. Our main concern in this thesis is the vibration in BHA and drill-string,

especially high level stick and slips and the effect it gave to the tool and drilling process if we choose not to cure it. Drill-string vibration is a condition where

during rotation a BHA that contain many tool configuration and dimension experience. Not all the tool are symmetrical, this could lead to vibration. The bit

selection is also affecting BHA in terms of vibration. Basically there are three types of vibration, they are: lateral vibration, axial vibration, and torsional

vibration. Vibration has become more and more risky to drilling operation and also a big factor that contribute to failure. It can cause damage to BHA component like bit, motor or RSS, MWD and LWD that has electronic parts in those particular tools. Apart from that we also have concerns that vibration, especially stick and slip torsion vibration can lead to damage in connection. The end product could be twist of connection and lost in hole is also a possibility. If you have problem in drilling from minor to major, you will take time to solve your problem. It will take times for everything to be solved. All of this problem can only lead to one thing which is the increase of drilling cost. This is something that we do not want. The output of this thesis is we get better or improved BHA design and better/improved procedure of drilling where we are hoping it will reduce the potential of stick-slip vibration, and thus, will increase drilling efficiency. To me this paper not only increase my understanding on drilling vibration, but also I learn a lot of things related to drilling operation. As a student of Petroleum

Engineering major, I get to see the connection of my study to my day to day work in oil and gas sector. In general I hope this paper will be used as an alternative to solve drilling process that also experience stick-slips drilling vibration.
