Summary: | The Borobudur temple is one of the world's valuable heritage. The Indonesian government and UNESCO have attempted restoration of the temple in a project that took part between 1975 and 1982. One method that could be used to help the conservation of this historical monument is by creating a model of the Borobudur temple. This way, the restoration and renovation will refer to the model. To create a surface model of the Borobudur temple, one can use small format photogrammetry technique which is taken by unmanned aerial vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with a small format digital camera which is controlled by a remote controller, following the flight plan. From the photographs, a model can be created using the depth perception and collinearity condition. While for the 3D models of the other part of the temple, such as the statues, relief, and stupa, one can use close range photogrammetry technique, which is similar to aerial photography. Combining the results from both techniques, a 3D model with multilevel of detail can be obtained. By using this model as a reference in the care for the Borobudur temple, the reconstruction of the shape of the temple, especially during the renovation, restoration, or when a disaster occurs and damages the temple so the reconstruction can be carried out. |
