Description
Summary:Clean water is an important basic need in human life. Coverage of water supply services in Indonesia is still low especially in rural areas, which are about 14,29%

in 2009. The low coverage of water supply services due to limited access to clean water, limited funds to build clean water facilities, lots of clean water facilities

does not operate properly and sustainably as well as other factors. The Indonesian government also committed to achieving the MDGs target of reducing half proportion of the population without access to healthy drinking water sources and sustainable by 2015. In order to increase coverage of water supply services and achieving the MDGs targets, also to continuing development of water supply facilities in rural areas, it is necessary to investigate the factors that influence the success of rural water supply management for consideration in the developmental planning of sustainable rural water supply facilities in the future. The study was conducted at Desa Ciburial, Kecamatan Cimenyan, Kabupaten Bandung. Water supply facilities in this village were planned and build with the village own capabilities. The limited fund from the government for water supply facilities resolved from community participation. Management of water supply facilities is conducted by the community through the management authority of Desa Ciburial. The study was conducted using system dynamics method, this

method was chosen since the ability to present the linkages and interdependence among examined variables and simulate the system behavior with intervention to

the system. The study indicated that the limited water supply development fund could be overcome by loan from banks or other financing institutions. Factors that affect the sustainability of water supply services are human factors, environmental, engineering, legal and institutional frameworks and financial aspects. In order to provision of clean water being properly operated and sustainable, it is necessary to be supported by plans of increasing water supply facilities, increasing potential

capacity and financial management which are implemented simultaneously.
