Summary: | Mining area of PT. Antam Tbk. UBPE Pongkor – West Java located at Watershed Cisadane. Part of mining activities are very closely related to the environment is on the Tailings Storage Facility (Tailings Dam). At the Tailings Storage Facility (Tailings Dam) common occurrence of a failure or accident that called overtopping which had an adverse impact on the surrounding environment. Therefore, it is necessary to study the return period rainfall, discharge plans, and water balance analysis to determine the potential risk of tailings dam’s overtopping due to heavier rainfall. Some methods used in this research is Log Pearson Type III method (calculation rainfall plan), Mononobe method (calculation of rainfall intensity in the return period specified), HEC-1 (calculation of peak discharge), and analysis of water balance ( overtopping volume calculation). Analysis of water balance which will be evaluated are monthly evapotranspiration, base flow and surface runoff in order to find the volume of runoff (overtopping) in the tailings dam. Return period rainfall’s plan for 2 years for the watershed Cisadane are 89.7 mm. Flood discharge outlet plan on outlet 1, outlet 2, and outlet 3 respectively in m3/second is a 2-year return period 221.136, 282.6, and 290.204. Overtopping can occur when rainfall is more valuable over the monthly average, and the absence of additional volumes of dredging the tailings. So from the calculation of water balance over a turn period of 2 years, overlapping occurs in January 2006 overtopping volume is 43409.01 m3 , then July, August, September, October, November, and December of 2007 with a volume of overtopping respectively 2569.369169, 1502.091895, 933.7635652, 619.1217028 , 460.5130713, dan 415.6718712 m3, and February 2008 with volume of overtopping respectively 3459.657 m3. |
