First, the sediment sample was reacted with KOH in methanol under reflux (saponification step), then, the sample was extracted by hexane. Aromatic compounds were separated by column chromatography which used alumina:gel silica (1:1) column and dichloromethane as an eluent. PAH, the result of column chromatography separation, was analyzed by HPLC technique. The use of C18 column with 25 cm length, methanol:water eluent, 1 mL/min flow rate and W detector at 254 tun wavelength, could separate and analyze the PAH in the sample text |
