In this research, the method of PAH analysis in sediment is developed. First, the sediment sample was reacted with KOH in methanol under reflux (saponification step), then, the sample was extracted by hexane. Aromatic compounds were separated by column chromatography which used alumina:gel silica (1:1) column and dichloromethane as an eluent. PAH, the result of column chromatography separation, was analyzed by HPLC technique. The use of C18 column with 25 cm length, methanol:water eluent, 1 mL/min flow rate and W detector at 254 tun wavelength, could separate and analyze the PAH in the sample text
