Summary: | Food is one of the most essential basic need of human to have a sustainable life. However, the need of food cannot be met under threat due to the increasing number of conversion of agricultural land into housing due to high demand for shelter and infrastructure development. To address this phenomenon, the Indonesian government made policy of Environmental Protection and Management, as stipulated in Law Number 32 of 2009, with one of the objective is to ensure the welfare, health, and human life. To achieve the objective, it is required spatial information related to the distribution and energy flows, of foodstuffs. Starting from the need, the final project was conducted to map the spatial distribution and patterns of energy flow, of foodstuffs, with the study area is located on Java Island. In this final project, mapping of the distribution of foodstuffs’ energy was conducted using the method of weighting by Index of Provisioning Ecosystem Services for Foodstuffs in the grid system and the mapping of the flow patterns of foodstuffs’ energy was conducted using hydrological analysis approach. Based on the mapping of the distribution of foodstuffs’ energy, it was concluded that rice fields, residential areas, and moor/field experiencing energy shortages of food, while the areas of primary forest, mangrove, ponds, and water bodies have excess of food energy. From the results of mapping of the flow patterns of foodstuffs’ energy, it was concluded that the energy stream from the area that experiencing excess of foodstuffs’ energy to area that lack foodstuffs’ energy. |
