The study area has a length of 12 km mapped for the scale of 1 : 10000. The purpose of this research is to determine the condition of engineering geology and slope stability of the rock mass along the Road Tawaeli-Toboli km 52 – 62. This area has elevations of 25 – 950 meters above sea level with slope ranging from 0 – 70 %. Engineering geology condition of research area can be divided into Alluvial Unit, Silty Clay Unit, Sand with Gravel Unit, Amphibolite Unit, and Gneiss Unit. Based on the analysis of slope stability at study area, there was found 16 points of slope that could potentially failure. Rock mass characterization with RMR method obtained the rock mass class II – III (good rock – rock fair) with a value of 52,32 to 75,5. Potential failure by kinematic analysis at 16 observation points showed various types of failure, such as planar failure, wedge failure, toppling and circular failure. The stability of the rock mass slope with SMR method derived class IIb – Va (stable – completely unstable) with a value of 5,5 to 65,14.. text
