Summary: | SKW field located in East Java Basin, has been proven to produce hydrocarbon, especially oil from Tuban Formation. By doing detailed analysis of facies characteritation reservoir property, diagenetic process, and rock typing, this analysis is expected to provide better result of carbonate reservoir characterization and potential so the development in SKW filed could be more efficient.

Tuban Formation in SKW field consist of five lithofacies, there is (1) Skeletal packestone, (2) Skeletal grainstone, (3) Skeletal wackestone, (4) Algae bindstone, (5) Pelloid skeletal packestone. There are two main facies association in this study which is fore reef as reef bank, and inter reef. Based on routine core data in SKW-2 well, five PRT (Petrophysical Rock Type) could be described there are (1) PRT 1 - Vuggy micropores-macropores, (2) PRT 2 – Moldic micropore-macropore, (3) PRT 3 - Interparticle Uniform Macropore, (4) PRT 4 - Interparticle uniform Micropores, (5) PRT 5 - Intercrystalline Uniform Micropores. five identified PRT have certain connection of porosity and permeability, there is PRT 1 with 14.7 to 32% porosity and permeability mD 427-1000. PRT 2 with a porosity of 11 -28% and permeability of 58-351 mD, PRT 3 with 9-22% porosity and permeability of 21-136 mD, PRT 4 with 5-13% porosity and permeability of 1-25 mD, And PRT 5 with 2-12% porosity and permeability 0.02-5 mD. Diagenetic process that control the quality of reservoir is micritization, dissolution, neomorphism, and burial. Dissolution process has increase the reservoir quality which dominantly occur in PRT 1 and PRT 2, and PRT 3 while micritization, neomorphism, and burial decrease the reservoir quality mostly occur in PRT 4, and PRT 5.

Identification PRT conducted using Winland (R35) and a method MRC (Multi-Resolution Graphic Based Clustering) as an application of data used in the training data is a log gamma ray and porosity (Phie), density, selection of type and amount of log data which is used through a process of trial and error where the clustering based on grouping the value of each training data such as porosity or permeability, then the value-value is chosen based limit value set based on the propagation distribution was PRT is to categorize the limit values of porosity and permeability are high, medium and lower into the value of each facies facies which is then used as a single PRT.

Reservoir quality is strongly influenced by spatial distribution of PRT. Wells which dominated by PRT 1, PRT 2 and PRT 3 show high production of hydrocarbon, while wells which PRT 4 and PRT 5 is low production. |
