One method for monitoring of deformation is use Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) with direct georeferencing to define coordinate system and orientation system of TLS directly in the field. This deformation monitoring research aims to create a three-dimensional model of Ratu crater deformation using Terrestrial Laser Scanner and correlate qualitatively the value of deformation that has been observed with volcano activity, particularly the seismic data.

The results of three-dimensional deformation model have a behavioral level rise of soil around 1-6 millimeters in some areas so as indicate the occurrence of deformation. However, these results can not be said to be a deformation signal because its value is closer to the accuracy of the TLS, that is equal to 6 mm. In addition, there is an error in the process of direct georeferencing caused by errors in the use of GPS observations strategies as a result of differences in the use of benchmark for each epoch. Correlation of 3D surface model changes from TLS measurement results with the seismic data chart does not look any significant increase in the number of earthquakes during the measurement period, the rate of daily earthquakes can be said to be a constant/steady in the period of July, 2015 to January, 2016. Accordingly, the value of the shifting/deformation that obtained from TLS can not be correlated with volcanic activity (increase in magma) but rather caused by surface processes, such as erosion and deposition of rocks on the walls and bottom of the crater. text
