Faults, folds and fractures were identified in this study area, which indicates that this study area is mainly controlled by geological structures. Narrow valley and steep slope are indication of young geomorphological erosion stages which estimated from the "V" shape of the river's valley and several specific river patterns such as: trellis, dendritic, parallel and radial pattern. Four major stratigraphic units can be recognized based on field mapping in this area which deposited since Middle Miocene until Early Pliocene. From oldest to youngest they are Calcarenite-Mudstone Unit (equivalent to Rambatan Formation), Sandstone-Mudstone Unit (equivalent to Halang Formation), Breccia Unit (equivalent to Kumbang Formation), and Andesite Unit. Structural style and pattern which developed in this study area is mainly controlled by NW-SE trending thrust fault. Tear faults were also found which has N-S trend and relatively NW-SE trend as the fault orientation. Geological cross section reconstruction show that structural style in research area is Imbricate Thrust Fault with leading mechanism. text |
