Organic-walled and carbonaceous. Based on the research, palynomorph transported from the origin (habitats) and deposited in marine sediment. The palynomorph can be reflected variations in vegetation, climate changes and sea level fluctuations. The research location was in Tarakan offshore, North Kal...

Based on the research, palynomorph transported from the origin (habitats) and deposited in marine sediment. The palynomorph can be reflected variations in vegetation, climate changes and sea level fluctuations. The research location was in Tarakan offshore, North Kalimantan which included in the Tarakan Sub-Basin. The location influenced by Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) either directly or indirectly. The data obtained from gravity coring quaternary sediment. Palynology analysis of 144 samples carried out in the Laboratory of Palynology, Geological Engineering, FITB-ITB. The analysis results obtained zoning of palynology, palynofacies. Meanwhile, the sediment analysis produced sediments facies.

Based on the palynology analysis, there are 108 taxa identified which consist of dinoflagellates, foraminifera, pollen and spores. Pollen taxa grouped into mangrove forest, lowland, mountain herbs and grassland. The proportion of taxa identified was fluctuation, so the presence can be real or pseudo. Based on quantitative analysis using principle component analysis (PCA), taxa Araceae, Annonaceae, Palmae spp, Pandanus sp, Piperaceae, Sapindaceae, Urticaceae, Cupressus sp, Malphigiceae, Cyperaceae, Gramineae, Dianthus chinensis, Gleicheniaceae, Nephelea cuspidate and Polypodiaceae attended significantly. Fluctuations in the palynomorph presence occur due to transportation and deposition processes. The process influenced by several factors such us currents, distances, grain size and anthropogenic. The currents transported palynomorph out from the origin to settle at Tarakan Sub-Basin. The transport system suspected by underwater canals that were still active. Palynomorph presence in deep sea environment more numerous and varied than in shelf and slope, it suspected because of the current influences. Sediment facies Tarakan Sub-Basin consist of sand, silt and clay. Distribution of seabed sediments showed changes increasingly fine sediment towards the deepsea deposition environment. Gravity coring data showed facies changes were coarsening upward. These changes indicated an increase in the strength of ivcurrents transportation when sedimentation took place. Palynofacies formed by palynomorph association and sediment are divided into facies A, B, C and D. Palynofacies described climate changes and also palynostratigraphy at Holocene that took place since ± 9833 years BP until now. The climate changes indirectly which described the environmental changes and sea level fluctuations. Dry climate with maximum temperature drop caused a shoreline shift to basinward at ±7083 to ±8333 year BP, and wet climate with maximum temperature rise caused a shoreline shift to landward at ±5917 to ±7083 year BP and ±1750 to ±2750 year BP. text
