Summary: | Presently a great deal of national coporations already become Mining Autorization, one of with is PT. Hasta Selirna Sakti that owns mining sites in the District of Tempino, Jambi. The coal possesses poor qualities due to its high and unstable total moisture. In order to overcome such a problem, an effort is made to reduce inherent moisture by inert heating and layering of the coal with fusel oil, derived from some kind of manufactured alcoholic waste which contains molase as its component part. Prior to layering of the coal, it is first subjected to heating at 100°, 150°, 200° and 250° for 30 min, 60 min and 90 min. Since the original fusel oil still has a moisture content of more than 50 %, heating at 105° C will reduce the volume to 1/3 and 1/9 of the original. Coal which is heated at 250° C for 90 min and immerse in fusel oil of 1/3 volume will reduce to 58 % of the total moisture and also has stable condition. |
