Further, this research was conducted to understand the situation of painting art work at present time in Indonesia, particularly in finding the reasons and motivations of the occurance of forgery painting art which is being greater and difficult to find to cover and to overcome related to Copyright Law (1997) which is being effective, while waiting for the new one. The object of this research are the artist whose work is made the faked one in many times, either academic or autodidact artists, art gallery and their curators, and side walk artist in Bandung and Jakarta. Data were collected doned with a descriptive methode which use a forgery study on painting art work with quantitative and qualitative research design for supporting each other. A set of questionaire was put forward to artists (academic and autodidact), art gallery, art shops, and art market in Jakarta and Bandung. Questionaire to artist were used to find thier respons and knowledge on Copyright Law. The result showed the making of forgery painting art work was due to : 1. The change of paradigms of society on arts, which at present was seen as an economic comodity like others. 2. The infrastructure of art society was very weak in many ways particularly in the understanding of Copyright Law (UUHC) 3. The attidute of traditional art society (based on tradition) was differ from that of current an society (modern) in the viewing of making a forgery art work. As the result, the parameters on forgery on art work based on the UUHC seemed to be designed without refering to the tradition culture. The result of this research was hoped to give input to the art community and related institutions was hopes to consider the UUHC, so that the artistic culture of the community was in accord, both the tradition and the modern ones. The governments also hoped to socialize (the UUHC) at all levels os the society, so that they care to the UUHC inforcement as the responsibility on the TRIPs agreement in Indonesia. text
