Summary:In the short period of time since PT. LEN Industri was born, it has to fight against fierce business competition as an effect of globalization. The ability to anticipate the challenges is a key of companys success in order to build a prominent business institution. <br /> <br /> Success of the company depends on the success of its business units. Thus if its business units have good performances, the company has a big possibility to have good performances too. Even some time happened that performances of a company depend at all on a certain business unit. This situation occurred in Network Division of PT. LEN Industri. In the recent years this division has a great contribution on the success of the company, PT. LEN Industri. <br /> <br /> In the efforts to optimize Network Division, it needs to identify the condition at one point through every sides of view. One of those is to identify the unit from the organizational aspect. This diagnostic process uses Organizational Assessment Instrument method that was developed by Van de Ven. Focus of the observation involve of job position and organization unit. <br /> <br /> From the observation of job position concluded that the job position can be explained through six factors, job standardization, feed back, expertise, job specialization, responsibilities and job varieties. The observation of organization unit also concluded that the unit can be explained through six factors, unit standardization, job dependencies, expertise, trigger factors, distribution of authority and frequency of conflicts. <br /> <br /> From those two observation deduced that the structural dimension of job and unit is the most critical weaknesses, these weaknesses include of the poor standardization, bad feed back, unfavourable distribution of authority in the unit and bad specialization. Job variety diversified too wide and there is no good incentives system. But contrarily, the other dimensions summarize good outlines, and the expertise factor is known as one of the strength aspect of Network Division. The weaknesses give a negative contribution to the company which has a close correlation with the satisfaction and motivation of employees and company performances. <br /> <br /> By improving the identified structural weaknesses, Network Division could become a unit which has a good ability to compete. This conclusion is based on the facts that this division has some good aspects such as ideal composition of human resources with good expertise, harmonic work circumstances, simple bureaucratic system and small size of the unit which has a tendency to spread widely so it can react easily. <br />
