Summary: | Heavy rainfall over Bengawan Solo River on December 25-26th 2007 triggered the biggest flood since 1963. Daily rainfall report recorded a heavy precipitation amount 80-120 mm a day all over watershed. We use Black Body Temperature (tbb) of MTSAT IR1 data to analyze the cloud characteristic that become the heavy rainfall. Another data also used as tool to analyze the mechanism. Tracking of Organized Convective Algorithm Trough a 3D Segmentation (TOOCAN) are the method to analyze the new cell propagation around the first cell. Dimension and the cycle of cell also the product of those method. We also analyze the process of multiple convection occurrence will be compared to some conceptual model of thunderstorm. Our identification showed that convective rain occurred around of Bengawan Solo watershed during the night. The convective rain produced from Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) with cold pool mechanism. The existence of cold pool propagate new cells to the MCS. This make life cyle of MCS become longer, also the convective rain too. That long time convective rain caused flood over Bengawan Solo Watershed. |
