Description
Summary:Desulphurization process is one common step that is used in ferronikel metalurgy process in order to obtain the product specification. Mixing process by mechanical stirring is commonly used. Water model is used in this study to obtain the visualization of the actual process in existing ladle. This study is done by comparing the mixing time of the replica of existing ladle and it's

impeller to three configuration of impeller model to obtain the blade configuration in order to have fastest mixing time. The observation metode was done by comparing the conductivity of water that reflect the dissolution of salt and distribution of color for each impeller's

model. The experiment shows that the Impeller Model 3 result the fastest mixing time comparing to 2 (two) proposed models and existing impeller model. This is caused by the wider shear plane of the Impeller Model 3 that result larger volume movement. The movement of the water result the fast flow thus the mixing process will run fastest.
