Population Estimated of Elaeidobius kamerunicus (Coleoptera : Curculionidae) Using Attractant Trap of 4-Allylanisole and the Effect of Oil Palm Fruit Set

Elaeidobius kamerunicus (Coleoptera : Curculionidae) is one of the oil palm flower polinator insect. Male and female inflorescences produced 4-Allylanisole, which attract the weevil, male inflorescences appeared to reward nectar and pollen but female inflorescences seemed reward the weevils with nec...

Male and female inflorescences produced 4-Allylanisole, which attract the weevil, male inflorescences appeared to reward nectar and pollen but female inflorescences seemed reward the weevils with nectar. The aim of this study is to estimatethe population of E. kamerunicus by using 4-Allylanisole attractant. The reseach was conductedon 8 years old oil palm oil plantation at PTPN VIII, Sukabumi. Traps made from 600 mL mineral water bottle, 4 holes (2 x 0,5 cm) were made on the sides of the bottle, attractant with doses of 0,2 and 0,4 mL (concentration 30%) dripped on cotton and placed inside the bottle parallel to the hole. Each trap was hung 1 meter above the ground. Polinator insect which enter the trap were observed daily for three days. The result of this study showed that use of attractan with a dose of 0,4 mL give more catches with total is 98,33 ± 43,52 individual. Estimated population of E. kamerunicus on oil palm flowers was 32,234 ± 6.148,88 individuals/Ha. The correlation between the number of E. kamerunicus in traps with the number E. kamerunicus of directly counts on male flowers showed the value of correlation coefficient value is -0,34. Correlation the number of E. kamerunicus in traps with fruit set percentage is 0,18. Negative correlation values explain the correlation is low and opposite each other. text
