To be able to regulate marine space object so that overlap in utilization did not happen, spatial data related to marine space objects are needed. It is necessary to understand the definitions, functions, and the legal basis

of marine protected areas in Indonesia to be able measure and map the marine protected area. Technical procedures of measurement and mapping of marine protected areas can be formed based the definition, the function, the legal basis of marine protected areas, and geodetic science. This research began with a literature study to understand the definitions, functions, and the legal basis of marine protected areas. Based on the literature study, the

object, zones, and aquatic environment of marine protected areas can be determined. From the results of these measurements, mapping process has to be done to obtain

maps and 3D visualization of marine protected area. Then do the analysis to determine the technical procedures and mapping for water conservation. The technical procedures for the measurement and mapping of marine protected

areas are generally divided into preparation and planning, measurement procedures, and the mapping procedure. Measurement procedure consists of the construction of

the control points, tide observation, coastline and islands measurement in the marine protected areas, and depth measurements. Mapping process is done with WGS 84 as

ellipsoid reference, Mercator as projection system, and the minimal of scale is 1: 250,000. text
