Summary: | Mobile equipment licensing program become very crucial for PT Freeport Indonesia to

ensure the availability of mobile equipment operators, which declared as competent for each type

of mobile equipment he/she is required to operate. Absenteeism of licensed mobile equipment

will affect to production stoppage since PTFI core business process utilize mobile equipment.

Well implementation of mobile equipment licensing program is required to ensure production run

efficiently and effectively.

Underground mine and Surface mine division has lost many licensed mobile equipment

operator due to unstable company condition. To ensure those two mining divisions has sufficient

licensed mobile equipment operator, in 2017, TDA Department has to facilitate the issuance of

new licenses as many as license holders lost while still maintaining competency of remaining

licensed mobile equipment operators. Unfortunately, PTFI current condition also has made TDA

department losing many of its mobile equipment instructors. This condition create the gap

between training hours targeted and training hours that can be achieved by TDA department in

2017. If this condition doesn’t managed immediately, PT Freeport Indonesia will suffer from

production loss by $1,756,981.09 per day or equal to $641,298,096.84 a year. Appropriate plan

shall be developed to mitigate this potential loss.

This final project will aim to increase the ability of TDA department in achieving training

hours targeted in 2017 and identify room for improvement on mobile equipment licensing process

for more efficient process. Both qualitative and quantitative research method will be used in this

final project. Focus Group Discussion conducted to find out the root causes of the business issue.

Fishbone Analysis used in grouping the cause and Current Tree Reality used in finding out the

root cause.

To solve the problem identified, three alternative solutions are proposed: centralization of

off the job training, off the job training based on sub group and the improvement of licensing

refresher program. To determine the priority of each alternative solution, Analytical Hierarchy

Process (AHP) will be used in this final project. Based on AHP, found out that the best alternative

solution in centralization of off the job training program. |
