THE INFLUENCE OF INDIAN OCEAN DIPOLE (IOD) TOWARD HOTSPOT DISTRIBUTION IN RIAU FROM 2002 UNTIL 2013

Hotspot distribution of land in Riau the most of cover the peat’s land reaches 590.169 hotspot from 2002 until 2013. Therefore, it needs research related to the influence of Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) toward hotspot distribution in Riau. IOD is stated in Dipole Mode Index (DMI) obtained from SST i...

IOD is stated in Dipole Mode Index (DMI) obtained from SST in West Indian Ocean which is substracted SST in Southeast Indian Ocean. The precipitation data are derived from The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Satellite (TRMM).Wind and Relative Humidity data are obtained from European Centre for The Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). In this theses, the correlation between IOD toward rainfall is searched and an impact on hotspot distribution from 2002 to 2013 in Riau. Next, from rainfall anomalous in Riau, the correlation and the effect toward hotspot didtribution in Riau are searched. Meteorological factors such as wind and relative humidity anomalous are also searched the correlation toward hotspot in Riau.

As a result, IOD had an influence on the rainfall in Riau in March, April, Mei, July, August, October, and December, while in other months IOD has little influence. Next, IOD distribution had an influence on hotspot in March, May, and September, while in other months IOD has little influence. The relative humidity also affects hotspot distribution in all months during the year 2002 until 2013. Rainfall anomalous distribution influence on hotspot distribution in June and December, while in other months rainfall anomalous has little influence on the hotspot distribution in Riau. text
