In proper dose, paracetamol is effective, however, if consumed in excessive dose, it may cause reye's síndrome, hepatoxicity and nephrotoxicity. Unfortunately, sometimes it is wrongly used to soften duck meat. Based on PERMENKES No. 33 (2012), paracetamol is not listed as food additive. In this research, a modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) for voltammetric determination of paracetamol had been developed. Molecularly Imprinted Poly(Glutamic Acid) was plated on the surface of CPE electrochemically using cyclic voltammetry technique in the potential range of -0.8 – 2.0 V with a scan rate of 100 mV/s from solution 0.1 M HClO4 containing glutamic acid and paracetamol. Linear calibration curve was found in the concentration range of 1μM - 1000μM with detection limit of 0.52 μM. The electrode has been used to confirm existance of paracetamol residue in some duck meat sample and to determine paracetamol content in four commercial drug samples. text
