Description
Summary:Air pollution is one of environment problem which can cause a bad affect on human life. The source of air pollution comes from some source such as industry activities. This study intends to identify the dispersion of SO2 resulted by kiln stacks in PT Semen Padang. The factories locate between Hindia ocean (in the west) and chain of barisan hill (in the east), it causes the dispersion of SO2 that is affected by local phenomenon. Dispersion model that is used in this study is CALPUFF model. CALPUFF is a multi-layer, multi-species distribution models of non-steady-state puff that can simulate the effects of time and space variations of meteorological conditions on the propagation, transformation, and transfer of pollutants. CALPUFF requires the wind field from CALMET

From simulation, the direction of SO2 dispersion on 10 January 2014 and 26 Juni 2014 is affected by sea breeze and land breeze. The dispersion of SO2 on 26 Juni 2014 passes the urban area more than on 10 January 2014 with the highest concentration is 122 mg/m3 whereas on 10 January 2014, the highest concentration is 120 mg/m3. The statistics show that the correlation coefficient and RMSE between the model and observed data are 0,63 and 5,49 on 10 January 2014 and 0,74 and 2,89 on 26 Juni 2014.
