This is indicated by the problems of overstock and stock out especially the 5C parts that is Cylinder head (CH), Cylinder block (CB), Crankshaft (CR), Connection Rod (CCR), and Camshaft (CS). The phenomenon that occurs due to the absence of a remanufactured inventory policy to determine the size of order and parts safety stock. This condition becomes increasingly complex with high fluctuations of demand for parts and reusable parts. Currently, the company only makes inventory policies based on a manufacturing system that does not consider reusable parts, so the inventory policy used is not in accordance with the conditions in PT Komatsu Indonesia at this time. Thus, an inventory policy method is needed, that consider the parameters of the number of reusable parts to minimize total inventory cost.

The model used as the reference for this problem is the formulation of the remanufacturing model developed by Muckstadt & Isaac (1981).
