Pasar Baru Bandung is a central business district located in downtown Bandung. With a vital economic activity and strategic location, Pasar Baru district certainly will attract new development in the area. Insistence of high economic development in the area requires Pasar Baru district to develop and improve the quality of the physical setting and economic activities. Pasar Baru district is also known as historical district and heritage conservation area in downtown Bandung. Pasar Baru district also has several heritage buildings and unique character either physically or activity. New developmnet in historic site were often are made on the economic consideration and overrides the character of the area. The emerging challenges in developing Pasar Baru district is how to accomodate the urge of high economic development and conservation efforts on the area. It required a development approach that can accomodate new development and conservation efforts. Urban tourism ia a strategy to increase the economic value of the cultural heritage site. Urban tourism can contribute to highlight or promote the unique character of a place either physically or activity. Urban tourism development can also be a strategy for sustainable development which will improve the quality of physical setting and encourage economic development on the area. Goal of this thesis is to develop Pasar Baru district with urban tourism approach as a sustainable conservation effort.
