The preservation of the residential heritage building is one of the very important attempts to maintain and treasure the heritages given from the past. Heritage buildings are irreplaceable when they are defective or lost. However, in reality residential heritage undergo many changes that tend to remove the historical characteristics of the residential heritage building and the district where the buildings are located. One of the factor that affect the changes toward the residential heritage building is the demand of city and economic development. The preservation of the residential heritage buildings will not work effectively if it only refers to the regulations, and the preservation of heritage buldings in Bandung city is lacking one of the important instruments of the preservation, which is the guidelines of preserving the residential heritage buildings. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This research is intended to create the preservation guidelines of the residential heritage buildings in Cipaganti district. The preservation guidelines are made by looking at the concepts of preservation guidelines of residential buildings in other countries, observing the characteristics and condition of the district and the heritage residential buildings in the district, creating the district and the buildings character components and creating the rules for the preservation of the residential heritage buildings activities. The method used is this research is a qualitative method with content analysis, descriptive analysis, and coding analysis. The result of this research is a preservation guidelines of the residential heritage buildings in Cipaganti district that covers the purpose of preservation guidelines, methods and preservation activities for every heritage buildings based on their components, and the guidelines for every preservation activities.
