Description
Summary:The first phase of the bike-sharing system in Bandung has been installed in December 2016 and is planned to be fully operational by 2017 through 30 stations and 270 bicycle units. The total population of productive age in Bandung is 69% of the total population (BPS Bandung, 2014) where 51% of them are aged 15-44 years which is the age with the highest cycling potential when compared to other age groups (Gualdi, Mario et al , 2012). However, the provision of bike-sharing facilities that have been done in the city of Bandung is not occured with pre-launch preparation in implementing it, so it is dubitable that its utilization would be optimal and right on target.

A successful bike-sharing program is the one that successfully maps the specific needs of users and market segmentation both before and after system installation. Therefore, the author wants to identify the potential use of bike-sharing in the community, then findings on the pre-launch considerations of the program so that the results can be input in the implementation of bike-sharing in Bandung.

Data collection method of this research was conducted by questionnaire, with non probability sampling method and target population 15-44 years old and preferably not the existing cyclists. While the method of data analysis is quantitative descriptive analysis with cross tabulation.

From the analysis results, bike-sharing users were identified with the highest number coming from students and workers earning 5-7 million rupiah per month. Strategy is needed to optimize the potential of bike-sharing, such as policy making, bike-sharing continuity improvement with other modes, tariff setting, and socialization activities.
