Description
Summary:Lack of housing procurement is the main problem of housing in Indonesia, especially for low-income house that are the responsibility of the government. Residential solutions in the middle of the city appear as a vertical house to overcome the limitations of land. However, vertical house that have been seen are still not flexible and people are forced to adjust the occupancy that has been provided. The incremental house approach is considered as one of the solutions to mass housing problems. With this approach the house is no longer seen as a finished product but rather as a process where residents can participate in designing their own house according to their economic needs and conditions. Furthermore, the providers designed the building according to minimum requirements with a 'permanent longlife' and adaptable. The core house design is done with a modular system that allows it to be built in industrialization. This thesis will discuss the possibility of developing low-income residential communities in Indonesia with an incremental house approach in case of vertical house. Literature study and design approach with cycling strategy method is done in this thesis. The final result of the research is the possibility of building design and residential development with an incremental house approach. Then it will be simulated at a location in Bandung.
