Downhole Seismic method is a seismic method that involves lowering the probe consisting of triaxial geophone into the borehole to determine the stress conditions of the soil. This method propagates the pressure wave and the shear wave generated by the source on the surface. This propagation produces...

This method propagates the pressure wave and the shear wave generated by the source on the surface. This propagation produces particle motion with vertical and horizontal direction at a certain time from which travel time the P and S wave are determined. These reading result in velocity profile of P and S wave . Generally, data processing time arrivals of downhole seismic still use conventional techniques i.e. the cross-over point method and cross correlation method. In order to produce data with more accurate, we employ evaluation of particle motion diagram of each wave. The change of polarization direction of the wave field determines whether the wave is pressure wave or shear wave. For the P-wave arrival, a linear particle motion along the direction of propagation is observed, whereas the S-wave arrival is associated with particle motion perpendicular to the direction of propagation. text
