Chinatown urban village is an interesting urban form to develop in Bandung city. The inhabitants of Chinatown is a mixed races between Chinese, sundanese, Javanese, and other race. The relationship between China and Indonesia has been going throughout history. The Chinese who migrated to Indonesia mainly driven for economic reasons. The Chinatown can be developed as an architectural and environmental preservation area that can be utilized for tourism and historical purpose. Chinatown village characteristic is not only reflected by the majority of the population descended from china, but also can be seen from the architectural form of the building. The existence of the character of Chinatown in the region should be retained and preserved because historical old buildings will strengthen the image of the area in the city, this strong image is reinforced by the temple in this village which not only serves as a place of worship, but also has an important role in the life of the Chinese community in the past and serves as a means of worship and education mandarin in the present day. Furthermore the rows of shops and services trade building also appealed the people to meet their daily <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> needs. Methods of analysis used in this research is a descriptive and quantitative analysis methods. This descriptive analysis method can be seen from analyzing the various forms of data that can give an idea as far as possible in its original form. While the method of quantitative analysis can be seen from the cross tabulation analysis method (Crosstab) to seek linkage of the existence of the cultural heritage and the village sustainability based on the value of Chi-Square test and tables. The value of the contingency coefficient is used to determine the strength of the relationship the existence of a cultural heritage to the sustainability of the village. The weak or strong relationship of the Sustainability variables can be seen in the column <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> symmetric Measures. Effect of preservation of cultural heritage in the Chinatown urban village have a positive relationship to village sustainability in the physical (identity building, style building, land use and function building), social (length of stay, new residents and value locality) and economic (boost local economy) perspective. This positive relationship is caused by location of the Chinatown urban village which located in the trade center and the main services zone of Bandung. Cultural heritage buildings in this village has a major influence in the establishment of the city image. By establishing the village of Chinatown as an architectural and environmental preservation area. It can be exploited for tourist destinations and historical area, which will lead to better level of employment and income in the village of Chinatown.
