Description
Summary:Persiba is set to have a new football stadium in the Batakan region, East Balikpapan. This stadium will be built near the beach, that is open to The Strait of Makassar. The problems in the design is how to provide reliable gravitational-based system of drainage in a sloping land within the block of Persiba Stadium.

Main dilemma from the design is trend between contour of earth and dimension of a channel. Low gradient in a slope will theoritically give a bigger dimension for a channel. This occurence can give so much problem to architectural design of a landscape. Beside, that big dimension of a channel obviously must be avoided in a design approach for a stadium. Because it will become an obstacle in much access way near the main building. However, a pond can be used to lower the channel’s peak of discharge in a drainage netwotk. It will need reservoir-routing process to perform ability of a pond in decreasing peak of discharge. The whole process is started from collecting data, analyzing data, and designing until target point can be techincally reached. The main reason behind why is this so important is because rainfall as a main load of drainage can’t be measured accurately. In the other hand, the fanaticsm of football will be so growing in future. Stadium will be asked for more in providing a footbal match, neglecting nature trends, include flood occurence. The reliable system of drainage can be expected to handle this situation.
