DESIGN OF OPERATOR TRAINING SIMULATOR FOR STEAM DRUM LEVEL CONTROL IN STEAM POWER PLANT USING DISTRIBUTED CONTROL SYSTEM
Drum is a component of boiler that converts water into steam in the steam power plant. Steam drum level control aims to keep the water level in the drum on the setpoint. Steam drum level control aims to keep the water level in the drum on the setpoint. If the drum level is too low, the boiler becomes overheat, whereas if it is too high, steam has bad quality because it contains water. In general, steam drum level control is used in 3-elements mechanism. That elements are level of water in drum, steam flow, and feedwater flow. Furthermore, operators have important role in controlling of drum level. So, training facilities such as operator training simulator (OTS) is required to represent the actual plant system. In this final project OTS is designed using DCS Centum VP with mathematical modelling system using the law of conservation of mass and energy. The design of level control mechanism includes 1-element, 2-elements, and 3-elements. Validation of model is done by comparing real plant data with steady value that has been determined. The steady value of feedwater flow, steam flow, heat, and level are: 506,10 kg/s, 506,10 kg/s, 391.621,00 KW, and 914,00 mm. From the comparison between level drum from modelling and from real plant data, we got the standard deviation is 5,38 and error is 0,5%. Validation is also done to the operator training simulator with real plant data in the form of level, pressure, and feedwater flow in sequence are: 1-element: 0,004%, 0,006%, and 0,120%; 2-elements: 0,001%, 0,010%, and 5,068%; 3-elements: 0,000%, 0,019%, and 5,019%. text |
