Using the most recent developed technology, a new method has been currently developed, which is Digital Rock Physics. The main concept of this method is analyzing the rock digitally using Micro CT Scan. The processes include are acquisition, reconstruction, and physical properties processing. In the acquisition step, calibration will be done by modifying voltage, current and exposure time with consideration of the resulting penetration beam profile in the range of 30-90%. The projection images will then be reconstructed by inserting Beam Hardening, Ring Artefact and Misalignment Correction to preserve the quality of rock images. The result will be in the form of greyscale images, which has pixels within 0-255 intensity range, To estimate physical properties such as porosity and permeability, the image should be converted into binary image thru a process called thresholding. In this research, analysis will be conducted on various sizes of Berea Sandstone sample in order to gain several datasets with different resolutions. Good result of binary image will be obtained by combining petrography analysis in getting a grain size value of the rock sample, which then will be computed to get a thresholding radius parameters. The result of thresholding process will then be compared with the porosity calculated from laboratory as a benchmark. From this research, it is known that to have a representative physical properties information, the dataset resolution should be high enough (voxel size smaller than 17 μm) and the sample size should not exceed 1 inch long. text
