Green open space benefits, such as city aesthetics, recreation and education, a place of social activities for the citizens, plus a method to improve the microclimate. Not only have not achieved the quantity standard yet, <br /> <br /> <br /> the quality of the green open space in Bandung also have not been beneficial. Urban gardening could be one solution to enhance the benefits of green open space productively and aesthetically. Well designed urban gardening will produce either food or non-food products, while simultaniously enhancing the aesthetic value and giving benefits to the community directly. This final project is an urban gardening design in Kelurahan Merdeka, Bandung. The sites which are designed are the land that abandoned land or not used optimally. Urban gardening design combines the suitability between the site's characters with the selection of gardening techniques, plants selections, irrigation systems, as well as management and maintenance system. Vertical gardening technique is applied on corridors, while horizontal gardening technique is applied on patch. The site with high solar intensity are planted by sun-loving plants, while site with low solar intensity is planted by shade-loving plants. Site adjacent to the mosque applying irrigation system that utilizes the former ablution water, while site adjacent to the building or the city implements a system of irrigation channels <br /> <br /> <br /> that utilizes rainwater and run-off water. The site which are private (institutions) implements the centralized management system, while the public site implements independent management system. This design is expected to be reference design for other lands with similar charactersistics in Bandung. text
