In order to find out the analytical methods for the identification of drug abuse, especially in sport tournament, the evaluation of analytical characteristics of some doping drugs i.e. furosemide, atenolol, methyltestosterone and stanozolol has been carried out. The methods used were thin layer chromatography, color reaction and spectrophotodensitometry. For the thin layer chromatography, precoated silica gel GF254 plate was used as stationary phase and several solvent systems were used.as mobile phase. The results showed that the four substances possessed significantly different analytical characteristics in chromatographic profile, color reactions, as well as in absorption spectra. The methods have been succesfully applied in the identification and/or the quantification of the doping drugs in urine of volunteers following the administration of each drug in normal dose.
