Description
Summary:Palm oil is a plant that has been widely cultivated in almost area in Indonesia. Palm oil enable to associate with organism in soil. One of organism that have affect to plant growth is Fungi. Ectomycorrhiza is a form mutualistic interaction between fungi and plant root. Fungi can help plant absorb nutrient from soil through extra radical hyphae. Study ectomycorrhiza in palm oil plant is new thing. Therefore, focus this study is to determine the existence of ectomycorrhiza in palm oil stand. There are several stage to determine it; 1. Exploration fruiting body ectomycorrhiza fungi on palm oil stand, 2. Collection fruiting body sample, 3. Isolation and characterization sample through analysis morphology and molecular, 4. Confirmation isolate by inoculation to palm oil seeding (4 month). After exploration, 9 fruiting body obtained from 3 block area plantation which is suspected as ectomycorrhiza. All sample belong to class Basidiomycota, ordo Agaricales based on identification morphology. Based on analysis molecular with ITS 1F and ITS 4B as marker DNA, the nine fruiting body closely similar with; Agaricus sp, Marasmiellus palmivorus, Lepiota sp, Pluteus veluntinus, Entoloma stylophorum CK4, Entoloma stylophorum CK5, Hygrocybe cantharellus, Hygrocybe conica, dan Lycoperdaceae sp. From literature note that Hygrocybe cantharellus, Hygrocybe conica dan Lepiota sp include ectomycorrhiza group. The genus of Agaricus is unusual as ectomycorrhiza. But there is one literature that state Agaricus sp can play a role as ectomycorrhiza in Cypress plant (pine group). From 9 sample fruiting body, only 2 can be cultured in laboratory, there are Agaricus sp and Marasmiellus palmivorus. Inoculation isolate Agaricus sp to palm oil seedling show no colonization on root. But nitrogen content has a significant value compared with control. Marasmiellus palmivorus, Lycoperdaceae sp, Pluteus veluntinus, and Entoloma stylophorum are known to be organisms that live as saprophyte by utilizing organic matter in nature. The conclusion is there are 3 species (Hygrocybe cantharellus, Hygrocybe conica dan Lepiota sp) ectomycorrhiza around palm oil tree.
