Vertical Pressure Air (VPA) is one of dewatering process equipment that use in Dewatering Plant PT. Freeport Indonesia. VPA produce 2,400 ton final concentrate each day. That’s 25% of total production Dewatering Plant PT. Freeport Indonesia. Model in mathematic formula can be used to improve performance of mineral processing. Hence dewatering process is part of mineral processing so performance of dewatering process can be improved by model in mathematic formula. This time Dewatering Plant PT. Freeport Indonesia do not have model to improve their dewatering process performance. The objective of this final project is to develop a model in mathematical formula for dewatering process of VPA in Dewatering Plant PT. Freeport Indonesia. Model in mathematical formula called as VPA Moisture Model. VPA Moisture Model constructed based on historical Dewatering Plant PT. Freeport Indonesia. VPA Moisture Model construct by two mathematic formula. The first mathematic formula is used for calculate the condition of slurry and the second formula is used for predict moisture content of VPA concentrate. Slurry condition depends on particle size -400#, percent solid, and minerolgy. Prediction of VPA moisture content depends on slurry condition and operational parameters. Operational paramaters of VPA such as press weight, membrane compression time, and air drying time. VPA Moisture Model give information that the content of particle size -400#, pyroxene, and talc are the most influence in term of slurry condition. VPA Moisture Model also give information that press weight is the most influence in term of operational parameter of VPA. In term of improving performance of VPA,then VPA Moisture Model applicated as a tool for classify slurry condition, a tool to evaluate daily performance of VPA, a guidline for operator to setting VPA set point, a tool to evaluate performance between two additional product or more that will be applied in VPA. text
