Description
Summary:Indonesia as one of the biggest archipelagic country in the world has so many mountains and plateaus. Moreover, it also has so many renewable energi resources which is potential energi comes from water. The aims of this final project is to design low-head axial water turbine with flowrate of 1,5 m3/s for converting the potential energi of water into electrical energi as the last result. The results of this designed turbine are then being simulated by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) based software as the tools to evaluate this designed turbine. The simulations are carried out by varying the rotational speed of turbine and operating head.

The results of the simulation show that the designed turbine is able to generate power of 93.993 W with efficiency of 85,5%.. The operating conditions to get the best turbine power which produced 119.833,7 W turbine power and efficiency of 85,56 is by setting the blade rotational speed of 6 m and operating head of 600 rpm.
