In 2002, the total solid waste disposed reached approximately 5.2 million m3. When the volume of solid waste disposed exceeds a landfill's capacity, it causes difficulties in the leachate management. Leachate will infiltrate to the soil surface and migrate to groundwater table then contaminate residents' wells. The research uses analytical mathematic model. The study results show that Chromium Hexavalent (Cr6), Lead (Pb) concentrations were above prescribed standards. Chromium Hexavalent, Lead and Chemical Oxygen Demand concentrations are 1.389 mg/l, 0.131 mg/l, and 1920 mg/l respectively. Seepage velocity is observed at 0.062 m.day-1. Laboratory analysis showed that Chromium hexavalent, lead and <br /> <br /> <br /> Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) concentrations in groundwater ranged from 0.0135-0.045mg/l, 0.0005-0.0042 mg/l, 0-46 mg/l. respectively. Model simulations show that Chromium Hexavalent has reached wells located ± 300 meters from the Landfill, whereas Lead has reached wells located ± 200 meters from the Landfill, and Chemical Oxygen Demand distribution has reached ± 100 meters from the Landfill. text |
