Abstract

Artificial lift installation is one method to solve wells that cannot produce naturally. Artificial lift selection methods are increasing over time, including Screening by Journal of Petroleum Technology (JPT) and Weatherford. The selection of artificial lifts using JPT and Weatherford guidelines is still often done because it saves desain time and has been evaluated in various types of reservoirs.

In this study, artificial lift selection process will be conducted for volatile oil reservoirs with high gas oil ratio. The selection process is done by technical and economic optimization. Technical optimization is based on the best design of artificial lifts. The result of the design will be used as input for the reservoir simulation. From the reservoir simulation, the cumulative output of oil production is used as a comparison. To evaluate the economy, use the value of Net Present Value (NPV). The results of design and economic evaluation will be compared and evaluated with existing screening methods.

The results of the design optimization show that the ESP is better overall than NGL. This is directly proportional to the economic evaluation where NPV of ESP is greater than NGL. In the screening method using JPT and Weatherford show that all parameters meet for both artificial lifts and are applicable for this case study. So that the JPT and Weatherford screening methods can be used as a preliminary screening of all existing artificial lifts to further optimize design and economics to determine the most profitable and operationally operable artificial lift. |
